"Fighiting back" ain't worth it, at least not in the way you described. It would only seek to create an uncomfortable situation, and you would possily help reinforce the Watchtowers sterotypes of ex-members.

Do they still go ahead and disfellowship if you threaten them back?
by ThomasCovenant insupposing local elders were to approach me with a view to a 'judicial committee' and subsequent disfellowshipping.
law # 1 i believe everything the 'society' says.. law # 2 i also believe everything the 'society' has ever said in the past even when it contradicts law # 1.. law # 3 i also believe everything the 'society' will ever say in the future even when it contradicts law # 1 and law # 2. law # 0 (zeroth law) i believe law # 1, 2 and 3 all at the same time.. please don't disfellowship me.. .
if you carry out this action i will take it upon myself to make the local jw's life uncomfortable.

CoCo: 666 is 333
by JK666 ini just happened to look today, and this is what i found:.
27-aug-04 00:25i remember that a few months back, i asked coco, the official keeper of numbers on jwd, to reserve for me 3 random lowest common denominators.
i liked them because they represented the iq's of the dorks on my judicial committee.

Revelation BookStudy Change Of Thought???
by LouBelle inhey all.
right i honestly don't keep up to date what is happening with the jws' changes of thought.
my aunt - who is now listening to reason & is starting to search outside of jw beliefs, mentioned that they were at their bookstudy and the brother said ""we'll be skipping the next paragraph, as there is a change in thought""".

There is a list of revisions for the revelation book that was published in Our Kingdom Ministrey. That paragraph must have been edited out.
The Watchtower decided to print up a list of revisions and have JWs change them manually rather than print new books. Something I'm sure wouldn't have happened back in the day when they charged for literature.

still considering going back to meetings...
by oompa innot that i want to or anything, but this therapist guy seems to think that it would be really helpful to my wife.
he says to pull out the good and ignore what you dont like, and that supporting my wife a bit in this way could be good for us as a couple.
it could also let us have at least some shot at keeping the old social life alive.

I think his therapist has point.
You can't just demand to get everything you want in a relationship. Sometimes concessions have to be made.I would never suggest you ever lie to your wife and tell her you want to be a JW, but if you can find small ways to make her life a bit eaiser then good for you. You admit that you have put her through a lot. Even though it doesn't seem fair (it's JWs, it never will be) that doesn't mean squat to her emotions. -

JW's kids must NOT attend nursery school
by aligot ripounsous ini thought that after some 30 years as a jw the wts's teaching is so familiar that i can hardly find anything new in assembly talks, which may be the reason why, as many attendants do, i gently noze down and opening an eye from time to time is enough to catch up the drift of an all too well known talk.
still, i've been genuinely surprised last sunday by a point a bethel visitor rose in one of the p.m talks, namely that jws are not advised to send their kids to school until an age when he (she) can take a personal stand re.
xmas, birthdays, etc.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that many nusery schools are run by religious organizations?

I'm converting again.
by reneeisorym in2 years ago i left jws.
i went to a baptist church because it was what my husband was.
i knew i wanted to go to church but which one i really didn't know yet.. two years later, i think i have made up my mind: presbyterian.. anyone have anything they want to share?

For those who think of all religion as merely a cult they should probably also examine their judicial systems, education systems, parental mores and TV/Movie regulatory mechanisms. Everything in life is designed to regulate us socially to an acceptable "norm". Religion is only one facet of that, but one that many people find useful psychologically, emotionally and socially.
I made a somewhat similar comment in the "should we get rid of religion?" thread a few days ago. It didn't prove to be much of a conversation point.
In these kind of debates I guess it's just more fun to fight to the death -

Anointed looking a bit younger - Feb 15th WT
by The Scotsman inbeen a wee while since i have been here, holidays and stuff.. anyway, i received the new feb 15th wt last night, the one with the generation change.
they have inserted an image that is meant to represent the anointed class, it is not like the usual ones.
generally these pics would have them with gray hair looking very old, but this image "in my opinion" seems to show them a bit younger.

A scanned copy would be great. The January 08' JW only magazine has already been leaked. We need to keep them coming!

Anyone else notice many more newbies suddenly???
by Tatiana inis it just me, or has everyone noticed many more lurkers and newbies posting now?
i have been reading way too much lately, in light of the nbc broadcast, and it seems as if each time i read a new thread, there's someone posting their first post, or third.
right offhand, i remember leaving-jws, rmcgill_leader, jwdonotcall, confused and lost, xfdwg97, and another post i just read from mom--something or other.
